Emerald Bowl

Emerald Bowl Tickets

The Emerald Bowl has been played annually at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California, since 2002. You may still remember its previous name, the Diamond Walnut San Francisco Bowl with its corporate title sponsor, Diamond of California, from 2002 to 2003. If this name sounds familiar, the company is also known as Diamond Foods, Inc., and Emerald of California is its primary snack nut brand. Therefore it remains as the title sponsor until further notice. The 2009 post-season college bowl game will match-up the USC Trojans and the Boston College Eagles, both more than eager to win this game.

The Trojans had played in a BCS game for the past seven years and had hopes to make it back there again this season. But they dropped three of their last five games, including the frustrating 21-17 loss to Arizona. USC fell out of the AP Top 25 for the first time in eight years after the loss to the Wildcats.
This annual college football bowl game is played at the end of December and will host the Pac-10’s sixth-place team with the WAC’s first, second or third-place team in 2010 and 2013. In 2011, Army will play against the Pac-10 team, with Navy in 2012 - assuming they are eligible.

San Francisco's AT&T Park is normally not used for football (it is the home of MLB's San Francisco Giants), which results in a quite interesting arrangement of the playing field: Both teams are required to share the same sideline, just separated by a barrier at the 50-yard line. The stadium holds almost 41,000 spectators, 40,800 to be exact.
